Fairfield Freshmen Samantha Lyons qualifies for the Girls State Wrestling Tournament

Fairfield Freshmen Samantha Lyons has qualified for the Girls State Wrestling Tournament with a 3rd place finish at the super regional qualifying meet Friday! 

Lyons, received a bye in the 1st round of competition, then won by fall over Leah Brownlee Winterset with a  Fall at :52 seconds in round 2 

In the Quarterfinal match Lyons fell to Ella Machin (Newton) 24-13 in a 9-8 decision

The first consolation match saw Lyons win by fall over Mailey Short of Nevada by Fall at  4:52

In round 5 Samantha Lyons won by decision over Mallori Stutsman of Carlisle with a 8-7 decision 

 Lyons Continued through wrestle backs with a fall over Raelene Hawkins of Marengo with a pin at 37 seconds  

That set up a 3rd Place Match, where Lyons won by decision over Josie Bishop Of Ankeny 28-14 

The state meet is being held this Thursday and Friday 2 at the Xtreme Arena in Coralville
