Area Sate Wrestling Qualifiers

Fairfield will send 5 wrestlers to the state tournament later this week after a strong finish at the 2A, District 3 tournament Saturday. Cael McCabe (106) and Dain Burkhart (175) each garnered individual district titles for the Trojans, with Cason Miller (157), Carter Moore (190) and Dre Smithburg (215) advanced as district runner-ups.

In the Class 1A, Isaac Cox returns to state for Cardinal after finishing as the runner-up at heavyweight.

Pekin’s Reed Lauderman qualified at 106 pounds  with a runner-up finish. The State Tournament, gets underway on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in Des Moines
