On Wednesday the Washington Riverboat Foundation awarded 27 grants, totaling just under $123K as part of their Spring small grant cycle. The Foundation board received over 50 applications in this grant cycle. Among the 27 awardees were Washington County Ambulance, receiving $5K for an Oxygen Refill Containment Station, their County Extension, $3,910 for Future Education Equipment and $5K to the County Fair Association for Security Cameras. Also the Keota Volunteer Fire Department was awarded $5,000 to go towards a New Rescue Truck and $5K to Keota VFW Post 4716 for Flag and Cooler Replacement. A surprise Grant of $10K went to GIVE, the Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere Foundation, who does golf charity for veterans and disabled veterans.
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2021 large grant cycle, with the deadline set for June 5th at 5pm. Community and economic development are a couple of specific areas considered during the process for cities, counties, schools and nonprofits to name a few. The grant ceremony is expected to take place sometime this November.
