Wapello County Attorney Requests Trial Delay For Shootout Suspects

The trial for Co-Defendants Michael Paul Bibby and Dalton Cook, who face multiple attempted murder charges that stem from an August 2018 shootout with Ottumwa Police following a robbery gone bad, was expected to begin February 2nd when criminal trials resume, however a delay has been requested.

Wapello County Attorney Reuben Neff asked for the delay saying the court’s resources that will be available aren’t adequate for the trial, citing the overwhelming number of witnesses whose presence would be required. They each face 10 charges of attempted murder, as well as charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and willful injury. All charges are class B felonies.
