Van Buren County held off Louisa-Muscatine 7-4 in varsity baseball Wednesday. Ryan Wolf was 2 of 3 including a double. Wyatt Mertens finished 1 of 2 and scored twice. Lucas Fett and Taylor Sprouse were both 1 of 2. Treyton Bainbridge went 1 of 3 as they totaled 6 hits. Starter Wolf pitched 6 and a third innings, had 7 strikeouts, gave up one hit, 2 earned runs and picked up the win. Lucas McEntee got the last 2 outs, fanning one batter, allowed 2 hits and 2 unearned runs. All the scoring by the opponent came during the top of the 7th. VBC had a 4 run 1st and then scored 3 in the 6th.
The Pekin varsity baseball team came up short 2-0 against Burlington Notre Dame Wednesday. The Panthers had just one hit as Brady Millikin went 1 of 3 ripping a double. Chase Stansberry pitched the complete game, had 13 strikeouts, allowed only 3 hits and one earned run.

Van Buren County lost to Class 2A 3rd rated Louisa-Muscatine 6-2 in varsity softball Wednesday. Callie Kracht led the 6 hit offense going 2 of 3. Isabel Manning finished 2 of 4. Chelsey Huff was 1 of 2 and pitched all 7 innings. She totaled 9 strikeouts, allowed 5 hits and just one earned run. Ivy Davidson went 1 of 3. The Warriors are now 8 and 2 this season.
The Cardinal varsity softball team was defeated by Highland 10-1 Wednesday. Maddy Lawson was 2 of 3 with a double. Nicoa McClure finished 1 of 3, blasting a homer. Riley Bears and Caitlyn Reber were both 1 of 3 as they totaled 5 hits. McClure took the loss going 5 2/3 innings, had 2 strikeouts, allowed 7 hits and 6 runs, 3 of them earned. Ava Ferrell pitched an inning and a third, fanned a batter, gave up 3 hits and 4 runs including 3 earned.
