The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors met on Thursday afternoon where they opened sealed bids & proposals submitted for leasing of the Van Buren County Farm for production during the 2021 through 2024 crop seasons: Nathan DeLong submitted a bid of $42,000/year, with Bill Goehring & Family coming in at $35K annually. After viewing the bids, the decision for awarding the lease was tabled until Monday’s meeting to allow the board members time to review the additional proposals that were submitted with each bid.
Also at the meeting the contract of County engineer Ryne Thornburg was discussed. Recently Thornburg proposed a 0% raise for the FY2022 with a one-year extension to his current contract, which was approved last March. Following the discussion, the board approved extending his current deal thru June 30th of 2023, with his wage for FY2022 set at $100,350, and his wage for FY2023 to be set at a later date.
