A two vehicle accident in Washington County has claimed the life of two people. According to the Iowa State Patrol an SUV driven by 66 year old Patricia Remington of Brighton was traveling northbound on Highway 1 and Fir Ave., when she failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle. Remington and her 67 year passenger, Nita Hesseltine, died as a result.
The other driver, 29 year old Westly Vaughan and his passenger 25 year old Mateo Ariza both of Oskaloosa, were injured in the crash and were both taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The accident remains under investigation with the Iowa State Patrol.
