Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day and Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate will be encouraging Iowans to register to vote or update their voter registration.
The National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) established September as National Voter Registration Month in 2002 as a non-partisan means of encouraging voter participation and increasing awareness about state requirements and deadlines for voting. Last year, more than 12,000 Iowans registered to vote during National Voter Registration Month. Currently, Southeast Iowa has 371,789 active voters, with 1,470,346 statewide.
