Tessie Marie Lane, 90, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Stockport

Tessie Marie Lane, 90, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Stockport, IA, departed this life on July 29, 2024, at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, IA.  Funeral services to honor her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the Stockport United Methodist Church in Stockport, IA with Pastor Mary Kathryn Hart and Larry Shipley officiating.  A private family burial will be held in the Spencer Cemetery immediately following the service.  A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2024, at the church and will last until the time of service.  Memorial contributions in Tessie’s honor may be directed to EveryStep Hospice, Stockport Legion Auxiliary or to the Van Buren County Hospital Hospice Suite.  Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Tessie Marie Lane was born to Fred and Marie Helm Westercamp on May 27, 1934, in Fremont, IA, Tessie’s early years set the stage for a lifetime of selfless service and familial dedication.  A proud alumna of Stockport High School, class of 1951, Tessie continued her education in the field of nursing in Burlington, IA, having been graced with a servant’s heart. It was a calling she fulfilled with unwavering commitment, becoming a respected Registered Nurse. She married the love of her life, Beryl Lane, on January 1, 1955.  Together they became the loving parents of four children, Cheri, Carol, Wilson, and Cris.

Tessie’s professional journey was marked by a remarkable tenure of 40 years at Van Buren County Hospital as well as several years of service at Jefferson County Hospital. She also spent time helping as a school nurse. 

Tessie had an unwavering dedication to her family, a love for beautiful quilts, and selflessly dedicated her time through volunteering as a hospice nurse.  She found relaxation in watching the birds and loved every type of flower. She will be deeply missed by her family, her community, and her many friends.

Tessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Beryl Lane, and four siblings, Honor Loy, Ralph, Shirley, and Dan.

Left to share her story are her children, Cheri Lane (Mike Olson), Carol (Curt) Warner, Wilson (Amy) Lane, and Cris (Chris) Spinelli; nine grandchildren, Corby (Sarah) Warner, Cody (Kim) Warner, Courtney (Zach) Hornberg, Mitey (Tammy) Hawkins, Josh Lane, Jeremy Lane, Connor Spinelli, Claire Spinelli, and Collin Spinelli; six great grandchildren, Riley, Case, Clayton, Lexi, Lilah, and Eli; one sister, Minette (Bud) Giberson; four bonus grandchildren, Michael, Zachary, Austin, and Allison; two brothers-in-law, Dick Maxwell and Fred Hickenbottom; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Westercamp and Jan Westercamp, as well as many extended family and friends.
