Students Stage Walkout Protest At Fairfield High School

Yesterday, Fairfield high school students staged a walkout protest. Although it is not known why this protest was planned, students told KMCD/Classic 96 News that the reason for the protest was to protest events that took place between Superintendent Dr. Laurie Noll and a former teacher, with others saying it was a protest against state Republicans presenting a bill that would ban same-sex marriage throughout the state.

In an email released to parents from Dr. Noll, Noll stated “While there may be grievances within our district that are being addressed through appropriate protocols and policies, I support students’ First Amendment rights to civil and peaceful protest within the law and our school policies. The First Amendment ensures that students cannot be punished for exercising free speech rights, even if school administrators don’t approve of what they say.”

KMCD/Classic 96 news will provide more updates once they are available.
