Unofficial Results are in for Tuesday’s special election and Republican Adrian Dickey of Packwood was victorious over Ottumwa Democrat Mary Stewart by a total of 966 votes.
Once the results are certified, Dickey will be sworn in to serve during the current legislative session. This is a partial term, with Dickey needing to seek re-election next November if he wishes to do so.
Stewart topped Dickey here in Jefferson County by 409 votes, 1,779 to 1,370. Things were much tighter in Wapello County where Dickey ended up with 74 more votes, 1,752 to 1,678. Van Buren and Davis Counties is where the difference was really made, Dickey took Van Buren by 732 votes 1,005 to 273 and Davis by 569, 913 to 344. Again all results are unofficial as of this time.
