Sharon Kay Hemm, 81, of Eldon

Sharon Kay Hemm, 81, of Eldon, IA passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, IA. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Eldon Cemetery in Eldon, IA with Billy Hofstetter officiating. Sharon Kay Hemm was born on May 15, 1943, in Newton, IA to Robert G and Irene L Jones Overmyer. She married her school sweetheart at the Christian Church Parsonage on October 24, 1959. She was educated in Albia and graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon, IA. Sharon was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple.

Sharon worked as a substitute cook with the Cardinal Community School District for 17 years and was a dedicated employee at Walmart in Fairfield, IA from 1986 until she retired in 2015. She loved doing things for her family and friends as well as camping for her husband and grandson.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Larry Hemm; two children, Daryl (Tammie) Hemm and Angie (Rod) Widger; a grandson, Joey; two brothers, Scott (Jamie) Overmyer of Albia and Dr. William Hofstetter of Missouri; three sisters, Peggy Seals of Sully, IA, Bobbi (John) Bassett of Attica, IA, Deb Berrier of Oskaloosa, IA, and sister-in-law, Bev Hemm of AZ, as well as many extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parent, grandparents, and infant brother, Donald Hofstetter, her in-laws, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hemm.
