Several local Schools will receive funding as Iowa is getting hundreds of millions of dollars in COVID relief to distribute to schools across the state. The Fairfield and Van Buren School Districts will get slightly over $1M, Pekin around $395K and Cardinal $428K. Of the nearly $345 million being distributed across the State, Ottumwa gets an even larger slice of the pie at just over $4.2M. Sometime later this week, the districts are expected to receive additional guidance on how the funding can be spent. The amount allocated is based on the percentage of low-income students in each district.
