This past Saturday, The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce offered the residents of Jefferson County a chance to offer comments and concerns via zoom as part of their first legislative session. Several topics were discussed, including support for small businesses.
Republican District 42 State Senator Jeff Reichman of Montrose, participating in his first session after defeating Democrat Rich Taylor of Mount Pleasant in November said that Small Businesses are in need of major support. Reichman added that with the unemployment rate back down considerably, he would like to see some very focused relief for those businesses that have been forced to get shut down, forced to operate at less capacity and help them out.
District 42 encompasses Henry and Lee Counties, as well as parts of Washington and Jefferson Counties. This was the first of four meetings the Chamber is expected to host. The remaining 3 will also be held on the third Saturday of the month thru April.
