Recently the Fairfield public safety and transportation committee was contacted by a homeowner on Iowa Avenue requesting the city limit on-street parking to one side of the street to alleviate bottlenecks when vehicles are parked on both sides. The Committee agreed Iowa Avenue is a narrow street that could benefit from on-street parking on one side only, and would like to gather input from more than one resident before making a decision.
Also the Committee was asked to review safety concerns of the intersection of W Jefferson Ave and S 20th Street. Police Chief Dave Thomas confirmed that this is not a high- accident intersection and does not warrant a four-way stop. Code Enforcement Officer Scott Vaughan plans to talk with the property owner at the northwest corner about trimming or removing the pine trees that block the view of eastbound traffic on Jefferson Ave.
