Panthers and Wolves Open Season With Offensive Explosion

On Tuesday, the Pekin softball team traveled to Winfield-Mt. Union to start the year. It was an offensive explosion for the softball game as the Panthers lost to the Wolves in a walkoff 28-27, behind an eight run bottom of the seventh for Winfield-Mt. Union.
For Pekin, Quinnlyn Baker went four for seven and drove in four runs. Alex Parsons went two for five with two RBI, Sadie Sieren went 0 for five, but drove in two runs, Payton Coleman was two for six with an RBI, Anna Hadley went four for five with a double and two RBI, Myah Bainbridge was four for six with a double and an RBI, Paislee Colman went one for two with five walks and an RBI, Kendyl Noel was two for seven with two RBI and Katelynn Shultz was two for three and drove in two runs.
Breanna Drish got the start going four innings for the Panthers, allowing 12 runs, five of which were earned, on 11 hits, four walks and a strikeout. Ezra Parsons was tagged with the loss, as she pitched the final two and two thirds innings, allowing 15 runs, 12 were earned, on six hits, 12 walks and three strikeouts.
