The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation announced Monday that an Ottumwa police officer is charged in connection with a domestic assault investigation. According to a news release, 23-year-old Jordan Woodward is charged with domestic assault while impeding airflow and criminal mischief while off-duty. The Iowa DCI said the arrest came from an investigation on Nov. 19 into a domestic assault reported to the Albia Police Department earlier that day.
The Albia Police Department responded to the 1700 block of Benton Avenue East around 1 p.m., where a woman reported being assaulted and choked by Woodward. Authorities transported Woodward to the Monroe County Jail following his arrest, where he has since posted bond. The Ottumwa Police Department said it placed Woodward on routine administrative leave pending an investigation.
