An Ottumwa man is facing serious charges after authorities responding to an incident early Sunday morning discovered 4 people injured as the result of a knife attack.
Ottumwa Police arrived at the residence just after 7am in the 200 block of West 5th Street to the original report of domestic abuse in progress. Upon arrival they found one man being restrained by another.
The man being restrained had allegedly attacked and injured the 4 roommates, 2 men and two women, one of the men required immediate surgery, one of the woman also suffering serious injuries. It is also alleged that during the attack he also attempted to sexually abuse one of the female victims.
As a result, 37-year-old Mahki Apraisam was charged with attempted murder, domestic abuse while displaying a weapon, going armed with intent, domestic abuse assault, assault with intent to commit sex abuse and willful injury.
He was taken to the Wapello County Jail.
