Maharishi School Girls’ Tennis Fall in Regionals

Playing without #1 Ishita Mukadam (International Science and Engineering Fair), Maharishi School girls’ tennis team suffered their first loss of the season in the 1-A Regional Team Final, falling to DeWitt Central 5-0.

At #1 singles Poojita Mukadam took regional champion Brooke Bloom to a 3rd set match tiebreak before falling. Aparajita Kalra pushed #4 Brooke Kent to the edge before falling 11-9 in her 3rd set tiebreak. Joyce Wang down 5-7, 2-4, was still battling on court when the Sabers scored their deciding 5th match victory to punch their ticket to the State team tournament. I’m proud of the way our girls competed today.”

DeWitt Central’s opponent Saturday May 18 will be Dike-New Hartford.

The Pioneers have reached the Sweet Sixteen each of the last three seasons. They end their 2024 campaign with a 9-1 record.

Three Maharishi players will head to Iowa City May 24-25 to compete in the State Singles and Doubles Tournament at the University of Iowa courts. Ishita Mukadam, the first two-time Pioneer state qualifier since 2011, will compete in the singles tournament. Ishita earned a 7th place medal at State last year.
