There was a red ribbon assembly held on Wednesday at Pence Elementary school in Fairfield to spread the knowledge and importance of drug prevention. Seniors from the High school provided a skit for the students relating to drug prevention. Also Jefferson County Sheriff Greg Morton and Fairfield Police Chief Dave Thomas spoke with the students and took questions from them. Officer Raysdam was also on hand with the Fairfield K-9 unit, his partner Cy, a two year old German Shepherd to explain to the kids what K-9 units do for the department and community. In the past students have sent off red balloons into the air, this year they put red ribbon pinwheels in the ground around the school.
