Last Wednesday night the Fairfield Fire Department assisted with a reported fire around 4 miles South of Brighton. The fire occurred in the 1200 block of Germanville Road just after 6pm. The Brighton Fire Department first arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a machine shed, their efforts to enter delayed as the building’s doors were frozen shut. After gaining entry, they found the fire was contained mostly to a diesel tractor, which they were able to extinguish.
According to Brighton Fire Chief Bill Farmer, a block heater plugged into the tractor appeared to have malfunctioned causing the fire. No injuries were reported. Besides Fairfield, Brighton QRS and the Lockridge fire departments also responded to the scene.
