Jefferson County Public Health reported Wednesday that they currently have 145 Active lab confirmed positive cases of Covid. 44% are in the 18-40 age group, 28% are in the 41-60 age group. Data shows that over the last week Jefferson County has been averaging 9 new cases per day. JCPH continues to work with numerous county/community partners on a daily basis.

At this time, approximately half of Iowa’s 99 counties do not perform contact tracing at the local county health department level. The Iowa Department of Public Health performs contact tracing for these counties. IDPH has and will continue to hire more staff members to complete the labor intensive process.

On Thursday the IDPH plans for all local health departments to stop using the current Iowa Disease Surveillance System and transition to the new DOMO platform. DOMO will only be used for COVID-19. JCPH asks that you be patient as they learn the challenging new system. Hospitalization numbers have all set new highs once again, 777 in the hospital, 182 in ICU with 63 on ventilators.
