February is American Heart Month and in celebration, JCHC will be hoisting its Heart Health and Home Cooking event on February 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Those who attend will learn about heart-healthy eating patterns and how to modify recipes to be heart-friendly. Even small changes in how you eat can significantly impact your health. Simple substitutions can add extra fiber, lower sugar, lower sodium, and lower unhealthy fats to impact your cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar control.
In addition to the presentation, guests will be treated to free food samples of modified recipes that are lighter and healthier than the traditional.
This free event is sponsored by the JCHC Auxiliary, and pre-registration is required. Seating is limited. To register for this event, call Ryan Ford at 641-469-4275.
