Iowa’s January Unemployment Statistics

Iowa’s Unemployment Statistics for January of 2023 have been released. According to Iowa Workforce Development, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 3% in January, while the labor force participation increased slightly to 68.1% making the total number of working Iowans 1,721,000 people.

In southeast Iowa, unemployment percentages rose slightly when compared to December of 2022. Washington County rose to 3.6%, Henry County 3.5%, Van Buren County 3.9%, Jefferson County rose to 3% from 2.5% in December, and Wapello County rose from a 3.3% unemployment rate in December to an unemployment rate of 4%.
