IHSAA Announce Changes To Wrestling State Duals
On Tuesday the Iowa High School Athletic Association announced that the boys’ high school state dual meets will now have a new date and location for the 2022-23 season. The IHSAA is moving the state duals to the Xtream Arena in Coralville and the duals will now be moved up by two weeks to February 4th to coincide with the inaugural Iowa girls’ high school wrestling tournament, also in Coralville.
“We’re thrilled to take our State Dual Team Tournament to Xtream Arena, which will provide a world-class wrestling venue and event staff for our student-athletes,” IHSAA executive director Tom Keating said.
“In addition to the amenities Xtream Arena can provide, scheduling it alongside the new girls’ tournament will benefit our participating schools, officials, and spectators. We trust the team at Think Iowa City and Iowa City Area Sports Commission will help us grow the dual team tournament as part of an outstanding weekend of Iowa high school wrestling.”
The Individual state meet has not been affected by the change. It will still be at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on February 16th.
