Prior to the reconstruction of Highway 1, the City of Fairfield will replace the asbestos cement pipe adjacent to the road between 1601 South Main and Fillmore Avenue. North of Fillmore, to Adams Avenue, the water main is cast iron but is under the roadway. The goal is to replace all of the pipe prior to the DOT’s overlay in 2024. The project consists of installing an 8-inch water main from 1601 South Main to Harrison Avenue, with new service lines installed for all buildings along the project. Four-Seasons Excavation came in as the low bidder at a price of approximately $342K, they are expected to begin construction either late this month or in early April.
