The U.S House committee is meeting this week to discuss whether or not to delay a petition filed by Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks as the race for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional district drags on. Miller-Meeks petition was filed in response to the one filed by her opponent in the race Democrat Rita Hart. Hart was defeated in the tightest race for a federal election, by the slim margin of 6 votes, however she has argued that 22 ballots in her favor were not counted. Hart filed her petition through the U.S. House instead of the Iowa court system. The Committee is expected to decide if they want to delay Miller-Meeks petition until they have time to consider Hart’s.
