Since the Greater Jefferson County was founded in 1975 the Grant Committee has been kept busy each year in receiving new charitable donations to the general grant fund and specific donations to focused grants. The Foundation offers over 46 years of experienced service and growth to the Jefferson County community by awarding grants to many community non-profit organizations. Grants awarded in previous years total over $1,790,000.00. 2020 Foundation Grants Awarded; Boy Scout Troop #64, CALU Apartments, Carnegie Museum Foundation, City of Fairfield, Supporters of Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, Fair Field Productions, Fairfield Area Soccer Association, Fairfield Community Center, First Fridays Artwalk, Fairfield Girl Scouts, Greater Jefferson County Fair, Lockridge Fire & Rescue, Maasdam Barns, McElhinny Foundation, Packwood Fire & Rescue, Walnut Friends Cemetery, Food Bank of Iowa, Center Township Trustees (Roth & Moorman Pioneer Cemeteries), and Locust Grove Township Trustees (Smith and Gantz-Laughlin Pioneer Cemeteries.)
The 2020 Disaster Relief Fund Grants; Jefferson County Health Center, Fairfield Community School District, Boy Scout Troop #64, Fairfield Public Library, Maasdam Barns, First Lutheran Church Come to Supper Program, Carry-on Bags, Pathfinders RC&D, Community Childcare, Jefferson County 4H, Greater Jefferson County Fair, First Augustana Lutheran Church Drive by Supper Program, and Pekin Childcare.
These grants to local nonprofit groups have traditionally be used for capital improvements. Area communities benefitting from these grants include Fairfield, Batavia, Libertyville, Lockridge, Pleasant Plain, and Packwood.
