A former Fairfield teacher has been recognized with the Outstanding Lifetime Environmental Education Service award. Karen Armstrong, a former teacher at Fairfield Middle School was chosen as the recipient for her contributions to environmental education and the environmental science field. Karen is currently the Missouri Department of Conservation Environmental educator, a position that she has served for the past 19 years. Karen said that she’s enjoyed being able to share nature and the environment with children and the award is a culmination for her. Karen grew up in Fairfield, graduated from Fairfield High School and is also a Parsons alum.
