The Iowa State Patrol District 13 in Mount Pleasant conducted a traffic enforcement project in southeast Iowa this past Saturday. Troopers worked alongside their partners in local law enforcement with the goal of reducing preventable collisions by enforcing traffic laws that contribute to collisions such as Seatbelt violations, Impaired Driving, Distracted Driving and Excessive Speeding.
Data from 2020 showed that January was the second deadliest month of the year in District 13 for alcohol related fatalities. As a result of this past Saturday’s project 47 Vehicles were stopped along with multiple checks on motorists in possible need of assistance.
Overall there were 3 OWI Arrests, 1 arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance. There was 1 arrest made related to a Felony Warrant out of Missouri, 22 Citations for Various Traffic Offenses and 45 Warnings Issued for Defective Equipment and other Traffic Offenses.
The State Patrol was assisted by multiple Sheriff’s Offices and their Deputies throughout the District.
