A Fairfield woman is back behind bars after being arrested in Wapello County early Tuesday morning on an outstanding warrant for violating her probation. 43 year old Chasity Maldonado of Fairfield was taken into custody just after 3:30am on the violation, the original charges stemming from a burglary attempt in Ottumwa back in November of 2019. You may recall Maldonado, of Keosauqua at the time and an accomplice attempted to break into a storage facility on Albia Road when they were confronted by the owner of the facility.
Upon being confronted, Maldonado’s accomplice fled on foot before being captured a short time later, she however hid inside a storage unit and was unknowingly locked in by the owner for several hours before being discovered by police following an extended search. When located she also found to be in possession of meth. At the time of her arrest she was facing charges of 3rd-degree Burglary, a Class D felony, Possession of Burglary Tools, 5th-degree Criminal Mischief and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
