Fairfield Teen to be Kid Captain for Saturday’s Iowa Penn State Game

A teen from Fairfield has been named honorary Kid Captain for this Saturday’s game between Iowa and Penn State. Twelve different children have been designated kid captains by the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital for each of the 12 University of Iowa football games this season. This week’s Kid Captain is Gabby Ford. Gabby and her family have fought a relentless brain tumor since she was 10-years old. Gabby has undergone numerous operations to remove as much of the tumor as possible, along with chemotherapy, but the tumor continued to grow. She has since received an investigational drug, called DAY101, which her doctors say has decreased the tumor’s size. Now a 17-years-old, high school junior, Gabby aspires to be a writer and enjoys math. Gabby is the daughter of Dave and Mandy Ford. Iowa at Penn State, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
