Fairfield Holiday Lighting Ceremony Set For Nov. 29th

See the town square light up the night at the the Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony in Fairfield being held on Friday, November 29th in Central Park.  This event is sponsored by Everybody’s Whole Foods, a locally owned business in Fairfield that is well-known for their support of the community and love for the holiday season. Festivities start in the dark at 5:30PM with the talented singers from the Fairfield High School Choirs leading the community in a sing-a-long of holiday favorites.

At 5:55PM the Chamber of Commerce CEO, Darien Sloat will announce the person named by the Chamber’s Christmas Committee as a citizen who exemplifies the Christmas season, and that person will get to throw the switch that will light up the entire square in the blink of an eye, turning the darkness into a holiday wonderland.

Shortly after, Santa will arrive by escort to open the new Santa House on the northeast corner of the square where he will listen to children’s hopes and dreams for the best Christmas ever.

There will also be free horse drawn wagon rides around the square for a great start to the holiday season. This is an evening not to be missed!

Be sure to check out the new decorations this year, life-sized nutcrackers standing at the entrance to the north and south end of the park. These new decorations were purchased with donations by citizens to the Chamber’s annual Tree of Lights campaign that raises funds to maintain and purchase decorations for the square, as well as a matching grant from the Greater Jefferson County Foundation.

The biggest news this year is the brand new Santa House built by Teresa & Jim Huffman, and their staff at JC Huffman Cabinetry. This beautiful new house will make Santa smile, and the kids will too as they sit on his lap enjoying the new fireplace that will keep the house warm. Also new this year is a cocoa shack that will be serving free hot cocoa to help warm up the lines of folks waiting to see Santa.  The good keeps coming as kids who would like can have their picture taken by one of Santa’s elves and then have it magically transported to Santa’s Workshop next door where more elves will help children pick out a free ornament that will hold the picture. Kids can even help decorate these new keepsakes!

Once again the Chamber will be giving away five $50 Chamber Bucks gift certificates during the holiday season as an incentive for residents to Shop Local! Look at the Chamber website to find out which merchants will be having sign up containers in their store. Sign up will begin on November 20th and run through 20th
