At the beginning of 2021, The Fairfield Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), which is the city’s Destination Marketing Organization, shifted their brand to become Visit Fairfield Iowa. The brand shift comes in the wake of refocusing the organization’s mission to attract visitors to Fairfield and Jefferson County. The organization legally remains the Fairfield Convention & Visitors Bureau but, to the public, will be seen as Visit Fairfield Iowa.
“We wanted to make this shift to make our purpose clearer to those who use our services,” commenter Terry Baker, Director of Visit Fairfield Iowa. “We also wanted to lessen the confusion that many people had that the Fairfield CVB and the Fairfield Convention Center were one and the same. While we have compatible missions, the two organizations serve very different and important roles in the community.”
Over the last year, the organization has refocused their energy towards small business support while maintaining awareness of Fairfield as a travel destination. According to director Baker, “Traveling to Fairfield has slowed down considerable this year, as it has just about everywhere. But we know that travel and tourism is a resilient industry and it will return. It’s important that we keep our hospitality and tourism related businesses vibrant so that future visitors can enjoy them.” The organization also plays a key role in creating awareness about Fairfield, including the recent designation as one of America’s coolest towns to visit in 2021.
The mission of Visit Fairfield Iowa is to attract visitors, drive economic growth through tourism, and establish Fairfield and Jefferson County as a unique travel destination. Visitors and residents can stay updated on local tourism at www.visitfairfieldiowa.com
