Arctic like weather in February has left Brighton residents with natural gas bills 4-7 times the amount of the previous month after prices soared nationwide. The effect on Brighton was significant as the City owns their own natural gas system. In some communities, the estimate is closer to 10-15 times January’s cost.

Mayor Melvin Rich said the city has authorized staff to structure a one year payment arrangement for residents who have difficulty paying that sizeable amount.
