Eldon Man Taken Into Custody Following Chase With Deputies

An Eldon man familiar to local law enforcement was arrested on Thursday morning after taking Wapello County Deputies on a chase that lasted several miles.

25 year old Christopher Denham was taken into custody at the conclusion of the chase that began when a Deputy noticed him operating a dirt bike without a license plate, a violation Denhem has been cited for in the past. The Deputy activated his lights and siren in an attempt to stop Denhem, however Denhem fled reaching speeds of up to 60 MPH in the process. He eventually came to a stop, ditched the bike and tried to flee into the woods before being captured.

The Sheriff’s Office says Denham is barred for being a “habitual offender, ” also suspending him on numerous occasions for not paying fines. He has been charged with eluding, a serious misdemeanor and driving while barred aggravated misdemeanor. He is currently free after posting bond.
