Eldon Man Faces Up To 80 Years In Prison After Being Convicted In Vicious Home Invasion

An Eldon man, accused of a home invasion on South Milner Street in Ottumwa back in April of 2020 where an Ottumwa man was robbed and severely beaten, was convicted this week in a Wapello County Court.

Joseph Allen Bloom was found guilty on all counts including charges of first-degree robbery and burglary as the result of the incident where he along with two accomplices, Alexis Meier and Anthony Lankford, both of Ottumwa, broke into the victims residence and beat him repeatedly with items including a wooden chair. The beating left the man unconscious and with a fractured skull in two places.

Bloom faces up to 80 years in prison on the collective charges.

Lankford’s trial is set to begin July 13th, Meier’s Aug. 3rd.
