Now that the weather has started to break away from those winter months residents of Fairfield may notice work taking place at a couple of local parks. A Donation to the Fairfield Park and Rec Foundation have specified reconstruction of restrooms at both Chautauqua and Waterworks parks.
At Chautauqua, City Staff is currently working on a floor plan which will include restrooms, an office, and staff locker room. The goal is to have a structure which could be added for a Park’s department storage and maintenance shed. Staff is also looking into funding sources for the shed and would prefer for both to be constructed at the same time. The tentative site for the new restrooms is generally in the area of the horse-shoe pit, near the parking.
At Waterworks, a floor plan has been developed for a shelter/restroom combination which will provide 3 single user restrooms, a kitchenette, and space for 12 picnic tables. The tentative site for the shelter is west of the driveway, south of the sand volleyball courts.
Once site plans, floor plans, and preliminary budgets for the two have been determined and approved by the donors estimate, the project will be brought before the Foundation and City Council for approval.
