The defense team for the Ottumwa mother accused of killing her daughter in July of 2018 is now seeking to prevent the State Medical Examiner from testifying. The defense argues that her reviews of Interviews with Thomas and a video of the crime scene clouded Doctor Michelle Catellier’s judgment. Thomas is accused of strangling 5 year old Chloe Chandler at the Family home on North James Street in Ottumwa. According to investigators she admitted to killing the young girl shortly following her arrest. At the conclusion of Catellier’s autopsy report, the death was ruled a homicide. The trial is set to begin on March 3rd, however the judge assigned to the case is expected to her arguments related to the motion next week. Thomas remains in custody in the Wapello County jail on a $500,000 bond.
