Iowa’s COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to rise as the total number of positive cases surpassed 290,000. The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 1,930 new COVID-19 cases and five additional deaths Thursday.
As of 10 a.m., the health department reported 291,394 total positive cases, 251,660 total recoveries and 4,065 total deaths since the start of the pandemic.
613 people are now hospitalized in Iowa because of COVID-19. 119 of those patients are in the ICU. 52 of the patients are on ventilators. 97 new patients were admitted to Iowa hospitals over the last 24-hour period measured by IDPH. Jefferson County Health Center is reporting 5 covid patients, Wapello 7, Washington 7, Van Buren and Keokuk counties 2 each. Long term care centers are still a concern of officials. In Fairfield the Parkview Care Center is reporting 4 positive cases in the last 14 days, however there are no new outbreaks in Van Buren or Wapello counties.
