The Fairfield City Council met in their lone December session on Monday night where they heard an update from Kingner and Associates regarding the 5 sites throughout Fairfield currently being studied for a future fire Station location.
The main topic of discussion was response times and how quickly the response would be from each individual location. Response times aside, advantages and disadvantages of each location were also discussed including site size and the potential for future building such as the bay that houses the vehicles.
The former DOT building that the City purchased several months ago has the size and ideal location, just a couple of blocks from the existing Fire Station, however there are two buildings at the site, one of which Klingner said would need to be demolished. They are expected to report back to the City before Christmas to share their final analysis.
