Council Approves Letter Of Support For Hwy 1 Project, Considering All Options For Ambulance Service

The Fairfield City Council met in regular session on Monday night where they approved a letter of support for the Hwy 1 South improvement project. Also at the meeting councilman Paul Gandy gave an update from the most recent ambulance board meeting and said that they are less enthusiastic about a partnership with Henry County as he was unable to obtain certain information from Midwest Ambulance and isn’t sure if it’s financially feasible moving forward. City administrator Aaron Kooiker will now take the lead in exploring all options including a City lead Ambulance service by adding on to the services of the Fairfield Fire Department by adding an EMS component and seeing how that could possibly be structured  The Board is also planning to put out a request for a proposal from the private entities in the area to see what kind of interest they have as far as running the ambulance service for the County.

Their deal with Midwest Ambulance expires September of next year.
