The Fairfield City Council net in regular session on Monday night where they approved an agreement with JCG Land Services for the Highway 1 project. JCG will be the primary contact with property owners during the project. They will be doing things such as identifying compensation estimates, as there are 33 properties that they expect to get easements from. The agreement with JCG is that they will be paid hourly, with the cost not to exceed 111K. Also resident Joel Roodman went before the Council to discuss the possibility of being able to park overnight on the square during the restricted hours of 2-6am. Roodman lives on the square and suggested that residents who live on the square be able to place a sticker in the window of their vehicle to allow them to park. Mayor Ed Malloy said that there is an increased demand for this as there is a trend toward renovating upper downtown floors into apartments. The public safety and transportation committee will look into the request further.
