Controlled Burn Thought To Be Extinguished Rekindles Near Brighton

Individuals wishing to conduct controlled burns are reminded to be cautious on windy days after a burn that was thought to be extinguished this past weekend around 7 miles Northwest of Brighton Rekindled on Monday night.

The remote location of the fire, near the intersection of Dogwood Ave and 295th Street presented it’s challenges for the Brighton and Richland Volunteer Fire Departments as they forced to commute water with the use of a rail truck from the Rubio Railroad crossing to the bridge over the Skunk River getting them within a closer proximity of the fire.

Crews mostly battled and were able to extinguish the flames with the use of hand tools.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the blaze.
