The Fairfield City Council met in regular session on Monday night where they heard from Jefferson County Supervisor and Kiwanis member Daryn Hamilton who requested the use of the square for Kiwanis Kids Day Saturday September 18th. The Council approved the request and the event should be a pleasant sight following the cancellation of the event in 2020 due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, That coupled with the cancellation of Midwest Old Threshers was a significant blow to Kiwanis as those two events are their largest fundraisers of the year. Tent setup will begin Thursday the 16th, equipment setup on Friday with the parade and pancakes on Saturday.
Also at the meeting a public hearing was set for Monday, May 24th at 7:00 PM where the City is expected to accept the dedication of the deed for Petra’s Park as a gift to the City.
