Coronavirus cases in Iowa have gone up 51 percent from the past week. The Iowa Department of Health has reported 11,588 new positive cases and 64 more COVID deaths in the state. That is more than double the COVID deaths of last week. At the beginning of the week, the Fairfield school district had 17% of Its students out to various illnesses; however 1 in 5 students and staff were in quarantine or isolation. Chris Estle with the Jefferson County Public Health says the best way to stay protected against COVID 19, is to wear a mask especially in close contact areas and to of course, to get the vaccine.
