At the most recent City Council meeting councilman Paul Gandy gave an update from the ambulance board meeting and said that they are less enthusiastic about a partnership with Henry County as he was unable to obtain certain information from Midwest Ambulance and isn’t sure if it’s financially feasible moving forward. City Administrator Aaron Kooiker is now in charge of exploring all options including a City led Ambulance service by adding on to the services of the Fairfield Fire Department by adding an EMS component and seeing how that could possibly be structured. On November 1st the Board sent out a request for a proposal to 21 different entities in the area to see what kind of interest they have as far as running the ambulance service for the County. The board will send out a list of questions to those entities on December 2nd and they have the option of responding in writing by Dec. 9th. Bids are due by Jan 3rd.
Their deal with Midwest Ambulance expires September of next year.
