2021 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Fairfield Lions Club. Some of the club’s community impact over the last 100 years that you may not be aware of, include 1930 when they assisted with a Beauty Contest which sent Miss Fairfield, Margaret Samuelson, to Des Moines where she was elected Miss Iowa. Prior to that, In 1926, the Good Roads Committee was appointed to support the hard road movement in Iowa. The goal was to build a hard road between Keosauqua and Iowa City that would pass through Fairfield and Washington. That road is now Highway 1.
