High Speed Chase Begins In Fairfield, Ends With Wanted Man In Custody

A man wanted on a warrant out of Henry County led local authorities on a high speed chase throughout Jefferson County on Wednesday morning. The chase started around Maple St and Burlington Ave in Fairfield when Fairfield officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by 36 Nolan Peterson, that’s when Peterson fled and the chase ensued. The chase eventually ended in the County heading North at Iris Ave and Brookville Rd when Peterson crashed into a ditch. He was uninjured in the crash and taken to the Jefferson County jail where he is being held on the warrant. In addition to the warrant he has also been charged with eluding. His bond has been set at $2,000 cash or surety on that charge, however the possibility of additional charges remains at this time. It is believed that he fled as he was on the Henry County sheriff’s office “Most Wanted” list for a parole violation warrant $50,000 cash or surety bond.
