Ottumwa Man Arrested After Leading Police On Chase

An Ottumwa man was arrested after leading police on a chase early Thursday morning. Around 4am Deputies from Wapello County attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle near Cliffland Park, Southeast of Ottumwa. 24 year old Michael Lippincott then began to elude police traveling through Agency before heading Westbound on Highway 34. Ottumwa Police were called in to assist in the chase and laid down spike strips near exit 191. The strips were effective in disabling the vehicle, however Lippincott then exited and fled the scene on foot before he was apprehended a short time later. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance(marijuana), eluding, and driving while suspended. He was taken to the Wapello County jail before he was later released after posting bond.
